The company just announced its 2027 Taycan series. The looks are signature Porsche, and there’s no mistaking it. But to address the sports car yearnings, the company equipped it with E-Shift, a system that adds eight virtual gears operated using the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. Each virtual gear has its own power delivery characteristics, with lower gears feeling more aggressive and higher gears tuned for smoothness and speed. When you shift, the car briefly adjusts its power output to mimic a gear change, along with a noticeable jolt. Porsche calls it a shift jerk. The system also includes a virtual tachometer, gear indicator, and shift lights in the instrument cluster. What’s the ask? You start at $111,900 for the rear-wheel drive model of the 2027 Taycan.
